Floss & Interdental Care

Cleaning between the teeth is one of the most important parts of maintaining oral health, yet it is also one of the most commonly missed areas. Even with excellent brushing, plaque and bacteria will remain between the teeth and under the gumline if these areas are not cleaned daily.

Flossing is essential for preventing gum disease and maintaining healthy bone levels around the teeth. It also plays a major role in preventing cavities between the teeth, which are often not visible until they have progressed.  Daily plaque removal is what protects the foundation of your oral health. If the bone and supporting tissues around your teeth are not healthy, your teeth cannot function at their best or serve you well long term. The goal is not just clean teeth, but a strong, healthy foundation.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to flossing. The best option is the one you will use consistently and correctly. For patients with tight contacts, traditional floss can be very effective when used properly. For others, especially those with larger spaces, gum recession, or dental work such as bridges or implants, alternative tools may be more appropriate and easier to use.

The goal is simple: disrupt plaque between the teeth every day in a way that works for you.

Helpful Tip
The best interdental tool is the one you will use consistently. Technique and daily use matter more than choosing the perfect product. All teeth are different. Keep searching until you find a product that works best in your mouth.
